At KD Cancer Centre, imaging is not just about capturing pictures; it is about detecting cancer early, guiding treatment, and monitoring recovery with precision.

CT scans do use X-ray radiation, but the dose used is carefully calibrated to be the minimum necessary for accurate diagnosis. The benefit of an accurate cancer diagnosis far outweighs the very small radiation risk. If you are pregnant or could be pregnant, please tell the radiologist before the scan.
Yes. We can provide medication to help you relax before the scan, and our team will tell you what to expect. MRI machines at KD Cancer Centre are wide-bore (open-style), which most patients find more comfortable. Please let us know your concerns in advance.
Requirements vary by scan type. CT scans with contrast may require 4–6 hours of fasting. PET-CT scans require 6 hours of fasting and avoiding strenuous exercise. Our team will provide clear instructions when booking your appointment.
A PET-CT uses a small amount of radioactive glucose (sugar) that cancer cells absorb more than normal cells. The radioactivity is very low and clears from your body within hours. It is safe for most patients. People with uncontrolled diabetes may need special preparation.
Our radiologists specialise in oncologic imaging and work closely with your oncologists, surgeons, and radiation specialists. Every scan is reviewed in the context of your full clinical picture, not just as an isolated image.
We understand that waiting for scan results is one of the most stressful parts of cancer care. At KD Cancer Centre, our radiology team prioritises timely reporting. Urgent reports (e.g., for emergency treatment decisions) are expedited. Your oncologist will discuss the results with you directly.
